MONITOR

“Monitor” was launched at a Public Meeting in March 1978 and has attracted nationwide publicity and support.

“Monitor’s” aims are:
(a)   To have 10% of the total production budget spent on making children’s programmes in N.Z.
(b)   To encourage a better selection of programmes bought from overseas.
(c)   To eliminate advertising during children’s programmes.
(d)   To reduce the amount of violence shown during childen’s [children’s] hours.
“Monitor” seeks members: individuals and organisations can join by sending $2.00 ($5.00 for corporate membership) to P.O. Box 1061, Dunedin.

Of course, everybody knows the tale of Cinderella, but I wonder if any of you know the real story. For example, did you know about Dobbin, the horse with an unstoppable appetite for kicking people, and the fat King, who was so wide he couldn’t get through doorways? You know about the Ugly Sisters, of course, but were you ever told about the Prince, who’d never been able to . . .? But I mustn’t spoil it for you by saying too much – just sit back, relax and enjoy the fun.
