VIENNA

Vienna is the one name among the great Capitals of the world that conjures up a vision – that vision is Music. Over its long history Vienna has been Mecca for Musicians. Vienna was a city of musical dreams. Fulfilment came to some, others received frustration or disillusionment, but the overriding factor was always – Music. It is often said that “Vienna moves in three-quarter time.”  Never was this more true than in the era of the Strauss family, when the sound of the waltz wafted from ballrooms to the first blush of dawn, and the theatres rang with a succession of light-hearted tuneful operattas [operettas].
