18 August The teachers attended day at Crownthorpe where we looked at computers and their uses in schools. We were shown how to use the computer with process writing and also its use with interactive fiction. We came to the conclusion that the computer would be a high motivator of children and ideally one in each room would be warranted. But because of the high cost of the equipment this would be impossible to achieve.
25 August School’s fancy dress ball was held at Sherenden Hall. This year we used a theme for the evening, “Dancing Through the Ages”. Pupils and parents performed a number of dances from the past including the haka, Charleston, can-can, the bunny hop, the twist and disco. Folk dances were also performed. The evening was extremely successful despite having a breakdown with the music and me having to make a mad dash back to school to grab an alternative record player and records.
26 August School ended at 2.30 for the August holidays.
Nicky and Jacqui White have withdrawn. School roll has dropped dramatically, now 46.
