Newspaper Article 1934 – Happy Birthday Party

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PARTY.

MRS. Athol Williams, of Te Aute Station, gave a very jolly party, inviting small friends for her daughter Jean’s eighth birthday, on Saturday 14. Those who came were Mrs. Dudley Kettle’s children, Shirley and Brian; Mrs. von Kettle’s Suzanne and Gillian (from Napier); Elizabeth and John Sutro (Poukawa); Jacqueline and Helen Swinburn (Waipukurau); Robin Williams, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Williams; Geoffrey and Roger Warren; Elizabeth Anne Avery and Gordon Yule (Hastings); besides the children of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Williams from Mangakuri – John, Pat, and Jennifer; and Jean’s own brothers, Eric and Bill.

The party was held at the residence of Mrs. W. Williams, which adjoins Mrs. Athol. Williams’ home. All kinds of games were enjoyed in the sunshine in the large old garden, but rides on the pony proved the greatest thrill. Bicycles and scooters, were also in full action.
