Hastings man dies at 74 [77]

The grandson of the late William Nelson, the founder of Tomoana Freezing Works and former owner of Waikoko Gardens, Mr Charles Edward Nelson-Smith, died in Hastings yesterday, aged 74 [77].

Mr Nelson-Smith was educated at the Huntly Preparatory School, Wanganui College and Canterbury University.

He was a qualified engineer and introduced many aspects of engineering when he returned to the family property, Olrig Station, near Hastings.

He is survived by his wife, Adele and two daughters, Janet Patterson [Paterson] and Patsy Patterson [Paterson] (Marlborough).
