DEPARTURE FOR CHRISTCHURCH
SATURDAY’S BIG GATHERING
Mr and Mrs O. Tong, taking with them Misses R. Tong and M. Lean and Mr F. Sharpley, left Hastings by car yesterday fro Wellington, en route for the N.Z. Amateur Athletic championship meeting, which takes place at at Christchurch on Saturday.
Miss Tong is to compete in the ladies’ hurdles and will also be one of the members of the Wellington ladies’ relay team. the other members are Misses M. Lean, Thelma Kench and Norma Wilson. Miss Lean will also compete in the ladies’ running events.
Mr Sharpley will compete in the 120 yards hurdles. He and Miss Tong were both winners at the recent Wellington provincial championships.
