WELCOME BY THE PRESIDENT – JOHN FERGUSON
Member 1967-1981
Secretary 1972-1975
President 1976-1981
Chairman Jubilee Committee 1981

The first ever history of the “Frivs” has been written by J. S. Henney, and is available in a printed publication. This very interesting and historic book traces the Frivs right back to 1896 up to and including 1981. The Frivs are indeed grateful to Syd Henney for his researching and compilation of this worthwhile project for our 85th Jubilee Year.

It is indeed my pleasure once again to welcome you to tonight’s performance, in this our 85th Jubilee Year. Frivs from far and near are this year attending this milestone in the Frivs history. On the night of Saturday, 10th October it will be an electrifying air that will surround the opening of the production in the Municipal Theatre, with the knowledge that nearly 300 former Frivs, who over all those years before “Trod the Boards” will be in the audience to witness this Jubilee production.

To our entire Hawke’s Bay audience, as far afield as Gisborne in the north, and Featherston in the south, I say thank you for your continued support of the Frivs – for without you there would be no performance. To the Executive and Cast of 1981 – congratulations on a fine production – that I know you will all enjoy tonight.

SECRETARY:
An important part in any organisation is the role of secretary. The Frivs are pleased to have had in this capacity Fay Rogers for the past five years. Many hours of work are entailed and this year is no exception with Fay taking on the added role of Jubilee Secretary.

Also appearing on stage for the minstrel show, Fay is behind the scenes during Cinderella as Cast Prompt – a most important position. The Frivs say a big thank you to Fay for her untiring efforts for helping to make the 85th Jubilee show a success.

PRODUCER – MINSTREL SHOW
In her second year as producer for the minstrel show, Joy Boston brings the necessary zest and zing into the fine sparkling performers you will witness tonight.

The various effects created on stage tonight during the minstrel show are the imagination of Joy. The Frivs are pleased that for Jubilee Year Joy has again excelled as a first-class producer.

All choreography for both the minstrel show and Cinderella has been the responsibility of Joy – and the Frivs are indeed grateful for Joy’s role in 1981.

JOY BOSTON

PRODUCER – CINDERELLA
Herself on stage with the Frivs for many years, Margaret, for the second year has produced the pantomime. Choosing a pantomime is a difficult task, and Margaret has bought out some fine acting, and comedy situations in this very versatile pantomime.

A large amount of work is entailed in producing any production, and the Frivs thank Margaret for her efforts of another pantomime very well presented, for this our Jubilee Year.

MUSICAL DIRECTOR
Edith is no stranger to the Frivs. after seven consecutive years as musical director has once again this year arranged and trained the Frivs for the entire show. Herself a registered music teacher, the Frivs are proud to have had Edith in this demanding position, and congratulate her on the fine standard you will see tonight. The Frivs musical ensemble also comes within the responsibility of Edith and this also shows her versatile talent, of a well balanced group.
